Afghan emeralds can show characteristics that overlap with other origins, making professional identification important.
The finest emerald is ultimately the stone that offers the most attractive combination of color, transparency, clarity and cut for its price. Origin provides provenance and adds to an emerald’s story, but the country name alone should not determine its value.
