The yellow-colored stone from the corundum mineral family is a yellow sapphire. It is a prominent precious gem and has a big significance in astrology. Mostly worn in gold ring, pendent, earrings, etc.
At Jewelfields you get quality selected untreated and unheated loose yellow sapphires at guaranteed lowest prices. We work mostly in Ceylon (Sri Lanka) origin sapphires as they are much better in quality than Burma or Madagascar sapphires.
*Proper visible yellow colour is ascertained. There should be no brown or blue mix where the core yellow colour is changing due to those. We do not keep faint or light yellow sapphires. A good colour intensity will always be in our stones. Most colours we keep are vivid yellow to intense golden yellow.
*Proper cut and shape is very necessary in gemstones with us. We see for the sapphires to be in proper shape and adequate cut. Only accepted traditional cuts you will find with us like oval, cushion, emerald or octagon cut, pear, square shape octagon cut, round brilliant cut, etc.
*Clean and clear transparent table is the USP of our stones. No unwanted kind of spots or table inclusions you will find in our stones. We keep only bright and transparent yellow sapphires.
*We select sapphires and other gems having no vulnerable inner cracks or surface opening cracks and fissures.
*Light and lustre are very important in our gemstones. We deal in proper shining gems and no dull or cloudy translucent stones.
*Most of our yellow sapphire sapphires are unheated and untreated. But in a few there can be a heat treatment, which will be mentioned. We do not keep fake or glass-filled yellow sapphires.
Certification from reputed labs like AGR, GIA, GSI, IGI and IIGJ by GJEPC.
Origin includes Srilanka (Ceylon), Burma (Myanmar), etc.
Jewelfields cater to your custom stone requirements for Jewelry designs with good quality real earth mined gemstones.
Yellow sapphires come usually with many treatments. Most common of all is regular heat. Other treatments include borex, silica and glass-filling which affect prices significantly. The filling treated sapphires have a trade name, which is "Thailand sapphires" and these are not considered real sapphires by big labs as GIA. GIA instead writes these as a man-made product and nowhere mentions "sapphire" for these fissure filled yellow, blue and other color sapphires.
Heat only yellow sapphires are accepted normally as unheated ones but, there can be a price difference which can be slight to significant.
As with any other gemstones, yellow sapphires should be in proper shape and cut proportions to look good and to reflect proper color and lustre.
A perfect cut sapphire will be more valuable than a poor cut stone. The stone should have ideal to good proportions of table size, depth, crown, etc.
The shape is another factor where proper shape needs to be given to the gem, may it be cushion or oval should be with a perfect line and no irregular mixed cut or fantasy cuts.
The most demanding shapes in yellow sapphires are: oval, princess, cushion, octagon, pear, etc. Also, they are cut as cabochons, which are less demanded and do not command higher side prices.
A properly cut and shaped gemstone always attracts attention and are most desired, thus having a higher price and value.
Yellow sapphires come in faint yellow to intense deep yellow colours. They can have overtones of usually brown and others as green and blue. The yellow mixed with brown is a rejection color, or faint yellow is another unwanted and low-priced stone. Proper brightness and even saturation of colour throughout the body of the stone is important. Intense bright yellow, vivid yellow, golden yellow are the most desired and rare colors demanding high prices.
Proper shine and transparency is very necessary in yellow sapphires, so every cut and polished yellow sapphire should be transparent and have an adequate amount of brilliance or light in it, which gives the stone a life.
Over this, the table or the face up of these gems needs to be always clean and clear. The table should be clean and shiny-looking or just should have side inclusions that do not affect the look of the gem stone much.
No unwanted kinds of inclusions like table spots, white patch/patches stuck to the table screen, or even a single clearly visible black dot on the table makes the stone a rejection.
The more transparent and shiny the yellow sapphire, the more rare and expensive it is. If any aforementioned unwanted inclusion is present in the stone, they will go in the rejection category and have nil price.
The origin plays an important role in determining the price of sapphires. The yellow sapphires are found in Burma, Tanzania, Australia, Africa and Sri Lanka (Ceylon).
Ceylon sapphires are known for their consistent vivid color, strength of the stone and bright transparency.
The Srilankan sapphires, compared to Burmese or African sapphires, are harder crystals. They are more shiny with bright colors and fewer fissures, so they demand higher prices.
